On 10th April 2018, members of the School Council traveled to Osterley near Brentford in London to visit the Sky Television Studios. The purpose of this visit was to allow the pupils to use cutting-edge TV technology to create their own 5 minute news report on Healthy Eating to share with the other children back at school. Of course, they also got to have a great deal of fun and had a tour of the Sky TV studios, getting to see the Sky Sports News HQ studios as they broadcast live to the world.
The pupils displayed their usual superb behaviour and represented the school wonderfully. Although we arrived back at school well before the end of the day, many of the children were tired because we set off on the trip at 6:45am!
Orchard Academy is a place where pupil voice is a central part of the school environment and Student Council provides the opportunities for those voices to be heard.
The Student Council body is comprised of pupils from Year 3 to Year 6 who have applied to be a representative for their year group and interviewed for the position by senior staff.
Members of the Student Council work together to make a difference within their environment by caring for others and raising awareness of school and global issues in order to bring school and community together.
These members demonstrate leadership and tact as they help others find joy on their journey to success.
Our School Councillors are:
